ITCPH Biogas Digester Calculator

About the calculator
Animal manure can be a source of alternative energy for our pig farmers. A biogas digester can convert manure into energy in the form of biogas which contains methane. This alternative energy can be used for cooking and driving electric generators. Two options can be considered in determining the size of a biogas digester but we will be focusing to one of the option in this calculator. The option 1 which is by considering the volume of manure production per day, employ the recommended manure-water ratio, and the design retention period to calculate the total manure production in the farms, slurry volume, digester volume and estimate biogas production.
How to use this calculator?
1. Input how many heads of pigs per classification. To get the Manure production per day

2. Input the ratio of manure to water (Usually the ratio is manure: water; 1:1, 1:2, 1:3). To get the Slurry Volume

3. Input the retention period (Usually its 30 – 45 days). To get the Digester Volume

4. Input the percentage the used digester volume (25% - 75%). To get the estimated gas production
